Mud, Blood and Sweat for BASICS Beasts

Two student paramedics have braved one of grueling Spartan Races in Windsor to raise cash for BASICS Dorset.

Pedro Nieves and Nicole Strachan are training at Bournemouth University. They are both regulars at our education events and offered to help fund raise to support our work here in Dorset.

The Spartan Races take place all over the country. The "Spartans" must endure an obstacle course that makes the Krypton Factor look like a jaunt down Bournemouth Promenade. Over 13.2 miles they faced 30 challenges from scaling walls to fording icy water to literally leaping through fire.

The brave duo - the BASICS Beasts - were sponsored by colleagues from the University and South Western Ambulance Service. After an impressive 5 hour slog they crossed the finish line, still smiling and with £130 raised to help us provide our life-saving service here in Dorset. As well as the runners' buzz and feeling of accomplishment, they had a box of goodies from the grateful volunteers at BASICS Dorset to help their recovery.

If anyone else would like to help us with a sponsored event then please get in touch via this website, by email or on Twitter or Facebook.
